  • This is the final paper for my game Complacence. In this game, players are faced with a run positive events and two ways to approach them. Players can either take the reasoned, well meaning approach to better grow themselves as people, or they can make their opponents take the options that are good at first, but don’t lead to any sort of personal…[Read more]

Cassell: The history of genderization in video games is interesting. There’s no doubt that it occurred when video games were just starting to be created and marketed, but in regard to the character design, it reflected both the gamer makeup and the primitive technology that developers had access to. The characters often had to have overdeveloped…[Read more]

It’s amazing what you and Kyle were able to do with Pokemon. I can’t see any glaring errors, it’s close to perfect.

I thought your guide was fantastic. I literally have no true criticisms to give, except maybe you may want your quote to be by a real person to give it more validity. And yes, we e-mail once we’re done

  • Hey all, I figured it out. Any advice for my rough draft? I can’t figure out how to change the game picture or the description at the bottom lol.

    • I think it’s very good and he sent an email out on how to change the picture and etc. You just double click on it. Picture I had to drag it over and make it smaller when I move it to word.
I would suggest one more bullet point for World Connections, but otherwise very well done.
Oh change the color of the background from gray to white might be a…[Read more]

So it seems like the themes we discovered, and the themes that apply the best for our games are Engaged Citizenship for HL2, and Environmental Sustainability for Pokemon. Everyone in agreement? Who wants to get started on the Pokemon proposition? I am doing the Half Life proposition as I type this.

So I played Half Life 2, and I was thinking, it might be a little harder than we thought to do an impact guide on it. I mean, it’s still going to be totally possible, our theme questions are going to look pretty cool, but the game basics section will be pretty barebones. There isn’t much player agency until later in the game. It’s a simple enough…[Read more]

    • Agreed, the mechanics are pretty simple and for the player guide we should and could just have the same mechanics and expand upon different themes.
      Probably something like:
From what point of view is the game played?
      What controls does it use?

    Yup! Sounds correct to me!

  • Bauerlein, in this excerpt, seems to resemble the “old fogies” described in his book. He argues that as we are in the information age, kids of this era should strive to achieve for more as they have more information than ever before at their fingertips. Are Bauerlein’s concerns about, paradoxically, students who strive too hard and students who…[Read more]

  • When I was reading this article, I got the impression that this was a look into the mind of a man familiar with the technology that drove society, but of the opinion that it was destroying the concept of learning. As technology has marched on exponentially, many devices have become easier to use and maintain compared to thirteen years ago. Has…[Read more]
